Since our last gazette, the vineyards of Champagne have suffered a slight drop in temperature in mid-July, with some episodes of rain which allowed to rehydrate the soil and to replenish the vegetation.

The last storm, which occurred last week, gave some fears. He left some traces in certain communes of Champagne, including hail damage on Avize, Mesnil on Oger (Côte des Blancs), but also Trépail, Villers Marmery (Montagne de Reims).

Now the mercury goes back up which facilitates the veraison, the change of color, the clusters becomes generalized, and the maturation takes a more sustained rhythm.

The clusters are large and the berries of a good diameter (thank you rain !!)
The health status of the vines is satisfactory, the pressures of diseases, mildew and powdery mildew are under control. The return to a drier climate will make it possible to stop the activity of the gray mold which began to find the wet ground favorable to its development.

Even if it is too early to give a vintage date, our estimates are confirmed, the first shots of pruning shears should be in the first week of September still it is necessary that the climatic conditions of the month of August Remain mild and summery .... Fingers crossed !!
